Render Farm Overview
What it does
The farm splits jobs into frame chunks across workers. Track progress, failures, and cost per shot in real time.
Key pages
- Dashboard - scoped job queue (My Work / My Shows / Whole Farm), filters, bulk actions
- Farm Machines - host-grouped worker slots, pools, enable/disable
- Priority queue - dispatch order and inline priority
- Render cost - oversight-only spend (see Render Farm Costs guide)
Submit from Houdini via Boi Render; jobs appear in the queue within seconds.
Overview
Dashboard, queue, workers, costs, and submitting from Houdini.
Steps
- Submit from DCC with ROP/output paths the workers can read.
- Watch the scoped queue (My Work / My Shows / Whole Farm).
- Retry failed chunks; escalate stuck jobs to wrangler.
- Review render cost on hot shots if you have oversight access.
Gotchas
- Workers must read the same NAS/Tailscale paths as artists.
- Render cost appears after job completion, not at queue time.
